Hajj Visa Requirements 2027 for US Citizens & Residents
What you need to apply for a Hajj visa through Nusuk, the official Saudi platform. There are no paper forms and no FedEx. Updated October 2026.

Since 2022, pilgrims from the United States can only get a Hajj visa and Hajj permit through Saudi Arabia's official Nusuk Hajj platform (hajj.nusuk.sa). Visas are no longer processed through the Saudi Embassy or consulates, and you no longer mail your passport. Everything is uploaded online, and the visa is issued electronically through a Ministry-authorized service provider. As an IATAN- and ARC-certified agency working with a Ministry-approved Nusuk Hajj service provider, we help you prepare every document below and guide you through registration for Hajj 2027. Registration is expected to open between October and December 2026.
Hajj Visa at a Glance
- Where to apply: only on hajj.nusuk.sa. There are no paper or consulate applications.
- Who issues it: the Hajj visa and permit are issued through Nusuk after you book a package from a Ministry-authorized service provider.
- Valid only for Hajj: tourist, visit, Umrah, business and transit visas are not valid for Hajj.
- Minimum age: 12 for pilgrims from abroad (as of 2026). Under-18s must travel with a parent or guardian.
- No guarantee: registering on Nusuk does not guarantee a Hajj place. Places are limited.
- Hajj 2027: Day of Arafah expected around May 15, 2027 (subject to moon sighting).
Documents Required for a Hajj Visa (Nusuk)
- Passport: your original passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date and have at least 2 blank pages (more is better). You'll upload a clear scan to Nusuk. You don't need to mail it.
- Online Nusuk application: complete and submit your Hajj application on hajj.nusuk.sa. The old signed paper application form is no longer used. We can help you fill it in.
- Digital photo: one recent color passport-style photo with a plain white background, uploaded to Nusuk. You no longer need 4 printed photos.
- Proof of US residence (non-US citizens): a valid US green card. Carry the original when you travel.
- Children and teens (12–17): a copy of the birth certificate to show the parent–child link. Pilgrims under 18 must travel with a parent or legal guardian.
- Couples: a copy of your marriage certificate, recommended if you are registering as a family group or sharing a room. It may be requested by your service provider.
- Meningitis vaccination certificate: meningococcal ACWY (formerly written "ACYW135"). A conjugate vaccine within 5 years or a polysaccharide vaccine within 3 years, given at least 10 days before arrival.
- Medical fitness certificate: expected to be compulsory for each pilgrim for Hajj 2027. Pilgrims must be free of conditions listed by the Saudi Ministry of Health (see FAQs below).
- Other vaccines if they apply to you: COVID-19 for higher-risk groups; polio or yellow fever only if you're arriving from listed countries. Seasonal flu is recommended.
- Women: no mahram letter is required. The old rule that a woman traveling alone must be 45 years old with a notarized mahram letter has been removed. Women under 18 must travel with a parent or guardian.
- Converts to Islam: if your name doesn't indicate that you're Muslim, we recommend carrying a certificate of Islam (Shahada certificate) from your local Islamic center. Your service provider or the authorities may ask for it.
- Terms and conditions: read and accept the Nusuk package terms (including the cancellation and refund rules) and our booking terms and disclaimer before paying.
- Payment: fund your Nusuk e-wallet (by bank transfer or card) to pay for your package. Nothing needs to be sent by FedEx, because all documents are uploaded online.
